Sold for Nothing — New Poems
Take my heart—
sell it to the man downtown,
sell it to the man outside.
Useless.
Dragging.
Bleeding.
Torn into pieces—
rebuild it into someone else.
Take my body,
take what’s left,
but all I needed was you.
And you—
you chose the man downtown.
We could’ve continued,
but no.
Now I’m stuck behind the scenes,
watching shadows move in ways I don’t understand.
Seeing things that make me angry,
weeping down tears—
streams, to be exact.
Drowning in the unknown,
saddened by what I’ll never know.
I want love.
I want a mistake.
I want the kind of break
that breaks us—
just for a moment,
just long enough
to know if we were ever real.
