Better You vs. Lower You — New Poems

By Poe
January 1, 2025 1 Min Read

Just because they said no,
Don’t cry wolf to empty skies.
 Life moves on, indifferent,
A river that doesn’t stop for any of us.
 We are but fleeting memories,
 Dancing with our egos,
 Becoming purpose,
 Or choosing silence—
 I don’t know anymore…
 Tone flips.
…getting used to a new custom
Crafted by a version of myself
 Striving for something better,
But each step feels like a betrayal,
A wound deeper with every change.
 Fitting into something new,
 But still,
 Every hopeful beginning
Seems to push me further from who I once was,
 An outsider,
A stranger in my own skin.
