Restless nights are ahead of him. — An Inconvenient Attachment

By Poe

Restless nights are ahead of him.
The nighttime will be his happy time.
 With every soul sleeping calmly,
 he will be feeling free.
The morning sunrise starts to appear,
 and his body becomes weaker,
 with lazy lids,
with a twist of rushing thoughts
that just won’t seem to slow down enough
for him to get at least a few moments of rest.
 It’s like he can’t catch a break.
 He’s always wanted
a chapter that has to continue into the new year.
As some say, “New Year, New Me.”
 Just not for him!
 Restless nights are upon him.
 He will fight.
 He does not need an army;
he does not need an audience.
He needs to be left alone
 on this earth.
 It’s his life now.
 Walk away!
He needs to feel like he’s got this
 without you—
 without any one of you.
