He went from friend to lust, — An Inconvenient Attachment

By Poe

He went from friend to lust,
 to an old friend,
 someone he loves deeply.
When you cross lust and friendship,

 it turns into a difficulty.
 As time progresses,
even if the joke’s on him,
 it’s not anymore.
 It’s on me.
I know this game won’t last.
But at the time, this dream is all too real,
as he reflects on the inability
to say he loves you again.
 Just more and more lust
 continues on.
When he is alone, his melody starts—
 a stream of real tears,
 of hidden feelings.
 But somehow, he’s got this.
Love is one thing; so is friendship.
What’s more important is that the ending
 of whatever this was
 was oddly addictive.
 He might be crazy.
 He might be lost.
He might be caught up in an overturned car crash,
 but he definitely knows:
 help is on the way!
