The Echoed Return — New Poems
I saw a change in the people, places, and things,
Revisiting shadows where memory clings.
Old footsteps retraced on forgotten ground,
Where silence speaks, though none make a sound.
I challenged myself to face what was gone,
To seek out the faces I thought had moved on.
Time’s gentle hand reshuffled the cast,
Yet some stayed rooted—reflections of past.
The streets still whispered, though buildings stood new,
Familiar ghosts flickered, then faded from view.
I realized the past breathes within tomorrow,
A mirror of joy, of loss, of borrowed sorrow.
Who comes back, who lingers, who fades away—
What stays behind, what begs to stay?
I walked through time, both future and past,
And found that nothing is meant to last.
Yet in the breaking, in all that rearranges,
I found myself in the midst of the changes.
The heart still holds what the years cannot sever—
The people, the places, the things…
Forever.
You can come to realize memories are placeholders. It just takes you
to open them back up.
