The Haunting of a Traumatized Mind — New Poems

By Poe

…losing friends.
Losing people who saw my future before I did.
A mind too traumatized to trust,
 too unwilling to rest,
too empty to feel full again.
I was the joke of the group,
 easily swayed, quick to anger,
building a home in my own destruction.
And now, the mirror doesn’t lie.
Once, I saw a success story.
Now, I see a soul on the edge,
tempted to cancel the chance of becoming new.
Relapse whispers like an old friend,
calling me back to the comfort of chaos.
 Why?
 Ego.
The ghost of the person I once created
 wants to rewrite the present
as a sequel to my worst mistakes.
