I wish I didn’t think about the past. — An Inconvenient Attachment

By Poe

I wish I didn’t think about the past.
How does it affect me so much?
It affects me on days when it shouldn’t.
I get so barricaded into deep darkness
 of nothing but sadness
 and hatred toward others.
 Like, I get it.
 Your past is your past!
It makes you stronger, wiser, confident,
but why can’t it make you feel at ease
 when it creeps?
